Teaching kids marketing at Cannock Chase High School

Klick Solutions were kindly invited and accepted an opprtunity in March to work with year 10’s at the Cannock Chase High School who are preparing to enter the last couple of years at the school and explore career opportunities.

We were asked to work with a class of around 20 children aged 14 for a day in March, delivering a presentation on our company Klick Solutions its services and the different elements of marketing and the role it plays in business.

We structured the day so it was a real interactive experience for the children with plenty of opportunities for them to express their ideas, observations and questions on all things marketing, advertising and PR.

One subject that caught the imagination of everyone was the naming and shaming of advertisements they most liked and disliked. There were lots of different suggestions for favourite which included the Vauxhall Zafira advert on tv whilst the Sheila’s Wheels advert featured prominantly as the most annoying.

Paul Newman from Klick Solutions delivered the presentation and got the class working on projects throughout the day including splitting the class into teams and getting them to write and design advertisements for a variety of toys and games that he bought in.

“The children certainly seemed to enjoy it”, said Paul, “with many expressing an interest and desire to establish a career in marketing and design”, added Paul.

Cannock Chase High School host annual project days inviting many different local businesses in to work with their school children and find it to be very beneficial.

The days are organised by head teacher Jenny Webb and her staff who were delighted with this years diversity of businesses.
